At least three policemen were killed and two injured when Maoists stormed Vishrampuri police station in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night.

RAIPUR: At least three policemen were killed and two injured when Maoists stormed Vishrampuri police station in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night.
The police station had a strength of 15 security personnel, but arms and ammunitions were not issued to it fearing Maoists could loot them, police said.
DGP Vishwaranjan said, "Maoists attacked the station hoping they would be able to loot weapons.''
"Over 50 armed Maoists came in four vehicles to the police station and opened firing.

They triggered multiple landmine blasts,'' Bastar IGP Rajinder Kumar Vij told a news agency.
An assistance sub-inspector and two head constables were killed on the spot while another constable was seriously injured, he said.
